Selecting Inventory Locations Through Point of Sale

 

 

 

Setting Up to Sell from Inventory Locations:

 

1.      Open the POS Control File and in the POS Defaults tab make the Location field blank.  If not blank then the Select Locations window will never be presented to the POS user.

2.      Open the POS Control File and in the Print Defaults tab you may check the box labeled “Print Location” if you would like the Inventory Location selected to print on a POS Invoice.  There is no space available on a POS Receipt.

3.      Select OK to save and leave the POS Control File.

 

 

Selling from a Selected Location:

 

1.      Start POS

2.      Select the desired Customer making the purchase.

3.      Select an Item you wish to sell.

4.      Enter the quantity of the Item to sell.

1.      Select the Add button and if there is more than one location for this Item, the Location Selection window will be displayed.  Modify the layout of this window to suit your preference.

2.      Sequence the view if necessary to find the desired inventory location in the view and then double-click on the location desired.

3.      The Item will be automatically added to the Item Information list box.

4.      Select the Record button when finished entering the remaining information as is usual.

5.      The Location Selection window in POS is updated immediately.  The Inventory Location and Item Master records will be updated when POS is posted.

 

 

 

  If the user does not select the Item being sold from the Inventory Selection window when prompted, only the Item Master in AA will be updated when POS is posted.  Caution must be exercised when taking this course of action since the total on hand in locations will then differ from quantity on hand in the Item Masters.  This is usually considered undesirable for Inventory tracking purposes.
