Can a Payroll Time Clock be Used with ActiveAccounting ?
Yes, if the time clock chosen exports a text file (.txt file extension) with the required fields with the minimum field sizes, AA it can import it. Select from the main AA menu: Reports>Import Data>Time Clock Import. On the window that appears you are provided with a means to browse to and select the desired text file to import. Selecting the Show Layout Button found in this window will display a list of the required fields and what their minimum required field sizes are in order to be compatible with our import routine.
If the Import Time Clock option does not appear on your menu, first try to run 'Search for New Reports' to see if it will be found and added to your menu for you. If not, feel free to email a request for this program to www.support@udsgis.com and one will be Zipped up and attached to an email back to you.
Unzip the ‘attached’ file Imp000.zip to Active Accounting folder on your server.
Run, 'Search for New Reports'.
The Time Clock Import menu option should then appear under Reports>Import Data.
It is of course easy to modify a .txt file in say, MS Word Pad™ (under Accessories on the Start menu) if you had to, but it would obviously be more streamlined if the text file that the chosen time clock exported was ready to be imported without any tweaking or modification. Normally, the payroll user would begin a new payroll cycle 1st, because what begin payroll cycle does is delete any PR Transactions in PR Transaction View first as it starts up. So you would lose any imported time clock transactions starting the payroll cycle after importing.
